7 Awesome Ways to Eat Our New Non-Dairy Flavours
OK, Non-Dairy fans, listen up: We’ve read your letters, answered your calls, chuckled at your postcards, and wiped away your nose prints from where you’ve stood outside our Scoop Shop windows, looking longingly at the dairy-filled cases inside. And now we’re finally giving you the news you want to hear: A perfect trifecta of new Ben & Jerry’s flavours are whizzing your way soon—and all three are dairy-free!
Starting on 6 September, Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and P.B. & Cookies will be making their grand debut in freezer cases near you; to celebrate the arrival of these creamy, chunky, PB-swirled and cookie-packed vegan pints, we thought we’d better help come up with a few different ways to incorporate them into your daily existence. With a little help, it is actually possible to eat Ben & Jerry’s for every meal … though your doctor may not recommend doing so. (Still, we don’t hold it against you for trying.)
So here you go, Non-Dairy lovers: the non-definitive, non-judgmental list to inspire you to eat Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy for (nearly) every meal!
1. Straight from the Pint
You’ve deprived yourself for far too long, my dear. Don’t stop to put the kettle on; grab that spoon and DIG. IN. Although on second thought, go back to that kettle for a minute. No need to turn on the hob—but definitely grab a tea towel or tea cozy, because all of that Non-Dairy goodness is cold and you could probably use a nice little knitted jumper between pint and palm right now.
2. In a Shake
Ok, we’ll let you in on a little secret. The only thing you need to make the perfect Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy shake is … almond milk. And a blender. So this is less a “recipe” and more an “inspiration.” Because do you really need a recipe for Non-Dairy euphoria? We thought not.
3. In a Banana Split Sundae
Personally, we love the way Chunky Monkey is already halfway to being a banana-split, with its trifecta of banana flavour, fudge, and walnut. It only seems fitting to go the Full Monty on this one by adding more banana, more hot fudge, some Non-Dairy whipped cream and perhaps a cherry on top. Extra nuts, as well? Go on, then—you’ve been waiting for this moment for oh-so-long!
4. To Woo a Suitor
We’re not gonna lie: you’re starting off on the right foot simply by considering Ben & Jerry’s an integral part of your evening. But just think of the conversation starters! From the obvious: (“How are these brownies so fabulously fudgey?!”); to the ethical: (“I love that these brownies came from Greyston Bakery—don’t you just love a bakery with a social conscience?”); to the metaphysical: (“So how do you know a cow is happy?”), Chocolate Fudge Brownie has you covered. (But you might want to kindly remind your date that Non-Dairy actually includes everything but the cow. Perhaps on the next outing, however. No need to put down your spoon yet.)
5. As an After-School Snack
Certainly there are more fruit-and-veggie-packed options for after-school snacks. But we’d argue that there’s already a long tradition of tea and biscuits for the afternoon hour—so perhaps the chocolate sandwich cookies and crunchy peanut-butter swirl in P.B. & Cookies could do in a pinch? Besides—peanut butter has protein! What could be better?
6. Sandwiched Between Biscuits
The choice of biscuits is a crucial component here—ideally they should be soft enough not to crumble, thus squeezing their precious frozen filling out the sides. We’d have to agree: Splurge on the soft biscuits. You won’t regret it, no matter which Non-Dairy flavour you decide to go with.
7. In Banoffee Pie
We have full confidence in your ability to whip up the biscuit-and-butter pie crust needed to make this classic English pud; now we’d simply suggest that you swap out all of that complicated caramel-making and just go straight to filling your pie shell with Chunky Monkey (caramel drizzle optional…but highly recommended).
