Founder and CEO of SCOPEinsight, Ashoka fellow, Netherlands
Lucas Simons is the founder of SCOPEinsight, and is the second Dutch Ashoka Fellow ever, due to his pioneering role in sustainable market transformations. SCOPEinsight independently assesses producer organizations in emerging economies, aiming to bridge the agri-finance gap and to increase market transparency. His consulting company NewForesight complements this work by building networks and enhancing understanding and access to agricultural markets. Before this, Lucas steered Utz Certified to include cocoa, tea and other food commodities in their certification. As such, he learned about the underlying challenges in emerging agricultural markets and went on to tackles these issues. In 2011, the World Economic Forum honored Lucas as Young Global Leader and he has been in the top 100 of most influential Dutch people in sustainable development for three consecutive years.
