Benjamin Adrion

Being handed the Federal Cross of Merit by the German President without even having turned 40 (the required minimum age) proves that something special must have happened. And it did, indeed. A former football star with cult German team St. Pauli, scooped the award for his dedication to Viva Con Aqua (VCA).

He and his fellow football players had become aware of the problematic drinking water supply in Cuba during a training camp on the island in 2005. And a new idea was born. The vision is pretty simple: everyone for water – water for everyone! VCA aims to facilitate access to clean water and basic sanitary care. Today, more than 500,000 people benefit from VCA activities. We are particularly happy to have Benjamin Adrion as a jury member and as someone with an eye for uncomplicated and spontaneous ideas!
